Welcome to the Benfleet and Thundersley Inter School Cluster 'BATIC'

The Benfleet and Thundersley Interschool Cluster 'BATIC' represents a Professional Partnership of Schools in Benfleet, Thundersley and Hadleigh. The group has worked together collaboratively for a number of years to run joint projects, share learning skills and ideas and work in collaboration on a number of new initiatives.

We are aiming to provide you with information about the Extended Schools agenda and to keep you up to date with information and events that are happening across 'BATIC'. We would also like to tell you about the Every Child Matters agenda 'ECM'.

In September 2005 Essex County Council introduced Local Delivery Groups across the County to encourage groups Schools to work to together with local Partners to deliver the Extended Schools agenda. During these initial stages it was natural that the BATIC group should become the Local Delivery Group 'LDG' for our area.

The Extended Schools Core Offer comprises the following elements:-

Swift and Easy Access to Specialist Services
A Varied Menu of Activities
Parenting support including Family Learning
Child Care from 8am to 6pm according to local need
Community Use of School Buildings

Every Child Matters 'ECM' is the Governments vision for all Children and Young People.  Which sets out to bring partners working with Children and Families together from all sectors of the community to deliver a more cohesive and joined up service for Children and Families.
More information about ECM can be found on the website
www.everychildmatters.gov.uk. The Children Act 2004 provides the legislation to support ECM.

The aims of ECM are that all Children should:-

Be Healthy
Stay Safe
Enjoy and Achieve
Make a Positive Contribution
Achieve Economic Wellbeing

In September 2007 in order to further support the delivery of the Extended Schools Agenda and in particular the 'Swift and Easy Access' element of the Core Offer Essex County Council introduced dedicated early intervention teams called 'TASCC' Teams - Team around the Child School and Community'. TASCC teams will respond to the assessed needs of Children either directly through early intervention & preventive activity by working with multiagency partners through established mechanisms or making onward referrals to specialist services.  Contact 0845 6037627.

You will find information on these pages relating to the Core Offer which we hope you will find useful.

As of January 2008 as locality working has progressed the LDG has evolved to include other key Partners such as  the TASCC Manager, the Police and Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services 'CAVS' who are responsible for developing the delivery of the Children's Centre offer in our area.

We hope that you find the information useful.

If you require any information now or in the future regarding any activities regarding extended schools, please e-mail me on the link below and I will reply when the requested details are available.
